Despite various merits of blockchain technology, Morpheus Labs identified two main challenges that commonly exist in current blockchain-enabled cloud solutions:

Blockchain-Cloud compatibility

The first type of challenge is that blockchain generally encounters technical difficulties when it is applied in cloud applications caused by technical characteristics of blockchain, some of which are considered advantages. For instance, a pure decentralization setting (e.g, public blockchain) offers a strong autonomous working mode. However, a lack of control in this mode is also considered a weakness in many practical scenarios. Centralization-based governance cannot be fully abandoned due to various reasons, such as legal issues or governmental duties.

With the SEED platform integrated into Huawei Cloud, we resolve the challenge of blockchain and cloud compatibility difficulty by providing a unified view for orchestrating and governing blockchain resources. For instance, Morpheus Labs SEED as BPaaS will provide a variety of services via offering customers blockchain systems seamlessly, such as transaction tracking database, smart contract, and consortium governance.

Needs of blockchain service models

The other type of common challenge is formulating/conducting blockchain service models. Lack of effective service models is a critical element that restricts blockchain implementations.

With SEED integrated into Huawei Cloud, our goal is to provide the infrastructure or software that fits in On-demand Pay (ODP) manner, where blockchain technology is struggling with data exchanging/sharing when multiple blockchain networks are merged. Hence with SEED platform, we target to reshape the existing models and find out an effective service model that supports both clouds and blockchain has an extreme demand.

The integration enables SEED platform users to orchestrate consortia/nodes on SEED Blockchain OPs in Huawei Cloud.

As we work towards establishing our second unique capability after agnosticism, which is multi-cloud, we wanted to address this problem through the definition of SEED architecture to facilitate the management of computing resources from different cloud providers in a homogenous manner.
